Ordering Terms

Cox & Turner aim to deliver good customer service and to that end we have made doing business with us simple, even from abroad.

Ordering Parts

The best way to start is to contact us by phone.  We are often busy so you may have to leave a message – Please Do Speak Clearly & Leave you Name and Full Phone Number.  For parts, let us have details of the parts you want and the vehicle they are for.  We can recognise some genuine part numbers on Land Rovers but it is far better to accurately describe the parts you want.  Please try to call during normal office hours.  If this is not possible, use the fax or e-mail.

Many parts such as pistons, rings & bearings come in different sizes so we may ask you for sizes or perhaps to send us patterns to make sure you get the correct bits.  On all older engines we strongly recommend that you do not order parts until you have stripped the engine and you do not have any machining done until you have the parts in you hands.  If in doubt – talk to us!

Once you know what you need then we can accept your order by phone, fax, e-mail, post or in person.  Your goods will be dispatched normally within 3 working days and very often the same day.  Our last post leaves at 4.00 so any calls after 3.00 are dealt with the following day.

Machining Work

Engines or engine parts that you require working on should normally be delivered or sent to the workshop address in Somerset.  Please ring before calling in to avoid wasted journeys.   Sometimes it may be possible for us to collect a job personally; otherwise we can always arrange collection by our carriers – call and discuss it.

It is important that we have a clear idea of what work you want done and what state of assembly you require the unit back in.  Please note that in line with the F.E.R. code of practice we cannot assemble any engine with components we consider to be excessively worn or damaged.  We will keep you posted on the progress of the unit and agree a time for collection or delivery of the finished article.

Normal workshop hours are between 9.30 and 6.00 Monday to Friday.  Collections and deliveries may be made outside these times by arrangement.  We can normally provide a “ball park” quote for any work after the unit has been stripped and cleaned.  If you decide not to proceed at that point we make a nominal charge for the stripping & cleaning only.  If you require a full and detailed quote then we can provide one however due to the nature of work on older engines this may need to be updated as the job progresses.  We prefer to work within a loose budget rather than to a fixed quote.

Payment

For parts sales we will dispatch an invoice with the goods or separately within a few days.  We ask all non-account customers to please pay their invoices within 14 days of receipt.

We accept payment by Sterling cheque, Sterling cash, International Bankers Draft (drawn on a U.K. bank), Electronic bank transfer (contact us for our bank account details) or via PayPal (www.paypal.com).  Please note we do not accept any credit or debit cards.  With any international draft, transfer or similar payment, please ensure that all bank charges are paid by you.

We do not recommend sending cash through the post but if you must do this then please send it as a parcel not a letter and please use a registered or recorded mail service.  Please note that proof of posting is not proof of receipt.

For frequent customers we offer the convenience of a monthly account.  Please contact us to find out more.  We are VAT registered and all prices we quote should be assumed as being subject to U.K. VAT at 17.5% for anyone living within the EU.  For customers outside the EU, no tax is payable.  Our VAT registration number is: 730 1434 79.

Business customers within the EU (but outside the U.K.) who are VAT registered in their own country do not need to pay U.K. VAT but they must submit their full name, address, phone number and VAT number to us at the time of ordering.

For machining work it is normal for customers to pay on collection of their jobs.  If intending to pay by cash please be aware that change is in short supply.  A cheque is preferred.  For large jobs such as full engine rebuilds it may be possible to arrange payment in 2 or 3 installments – contact us for details.

If you wish to return any items please contact us as soon as possible and before you return the goods.  If there is no good reason for the goods to be returned, or if they were to special order, we may have to charge you a handling fee.  On rare occasions we may refuse to accept returns.

Please be aware that we send items to you on trust in order to provide good service.  We do not tolerate abuse of this trust.  We always prosecute in cases of non payment, even overseas and we have been highly successful at reclaiming bad debts.  Please pay on time.

Finally – please note we are a reputable company and the price we quote is already the best price we can offer for the job.  Please do not offend us and embarrass yourself by trying to “beat us down”.
